Ahmed R. Ahmed, PhD, FRCS, is a senior lecturer and consultant in Upper GI and Bariatric Surgery at Imperial College London in London, UK. His bariatric surgery unit has been designated as an International Centre of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. 
Dr. Ahmed attended University College London and Middlesex Hospital School of Medicine. He has had extensive training in laparoscopic surgery in the UK and the US and has completed a PhD in the mechanisms of complications following bariatric surgery.
Dr. Ahmed has published several papers focused on laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery and presented many abstracts, lectures, and live operating demonstrations internationally. He is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Royal Society of Medicine, American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and British Obesity Surgery Society.
